Booksellers to boycott purchase
Srinagar, Nov 3: The Valley-based booksellers today decided to boycott purchase of textbooks from Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education.
The booksellers in a statement issued under the banner of Kashmir Booksellers and Stationers’ Association, said there was non-availability/shortage of stocks at the text book store of the Board.
The booksellers also alleged “mis-behaviour by some officials at the text book store with them.”
The booksellers also accused the board of resorting to “backdoor sales of text books from the store.” “There is improper procedure for distribution of books by the text book store,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the association has appealed all the booksellers in the Valley to cooperate with it and boycott the purchase of text books from the board.
Repeated attempts to contact the Board authorities/book store for comment proved futile.
