Demand Re-Examination Of Maths Paper

Srinagar, Nov 3: Scores of class 12th students on Saturday protested against JK BOSE for adopting the ‘controversial’ series system in the examinations.
The students assembled at Press Enclave to demand abolishing of the series system which is taking toll on their psyche.
Accusing the board administration of marring their future, Aaqib Gul a student said, “They are playing with our future. The board officials should deliberate on our demand seriously,”
Which college or university will allot admission to students who have passed from JK board with marks in fifties,” he added.
Echoing Gul’s view, Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, a parent questioned the merit of series system, “The fault lies in the nature of series system. JK BOSE had tried to copy the idea of series system from other states. Ironically they could not comprehend the exact genesis of series system adopted in other states which ultimately turned a damp squib here.” Bhat said.
“They should ask same questions in every series by placing them in different sections and allotting same marks,” Bhat argued.
Bhat said that on contrary the JK BOSE asks different questions in different series which is root cause of discrimination.
Commenting on the ill effects of ‘faulty’ series system on the education sector of Kashmir, a teacher said, “It will lead to participation of microscopic percentage of students in competitive examinations at national level while the majority of them prefer, for one or another reason, study in the state. So this single paper system puts extra and unnecessary burden on majority of average students.”
Irked by the pattern of mathematics paper set by the board officials, many parents and students called Greater Kashmir office and apprised about their concern, “Our children are in state of depression from yesterday because of faulty formulation of Mathematics paper. We will not shy in saying that the person who has set up the mathematics paper is totally ignorant of mathematics subject. It has affected the performance of my child in other papers as well due the depression,” said a parent, Mushtaq Ahmed Mir.
Students said that the recent Mathematics paper ‘fiasco’ had left them into lurch. “We want either re-examination or compensation from the board officials for the faulty 12th class math paper,” they said.
Despite repeated attempts Chairman BOSE, Sheikh Bashir could not be reached out.
