Government withdraws notification on repatriation of KP medical staff
New Delhi, Nov 8: Jammu and Kashmir Government has withdrawn its notification ordering displaced Kashmiri Pandit doctors, paramedics and ministerial staff of the health department living outside the state to report at Jammu. The notification, issued in September last, had resulted in widespread resentment in the community and various organizations have been demanding its revocation expressing fear that the move was aimed at forcing the employees to serve in Kashmir.
The decision to revoke the order was taken by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah after a detailed meeting with the representatives of S K Foundation, an organization working for the welfare of the displaced community. The Delhi based Foundation’s president, Sunil Shakdher held a meeting with the Chief Minister in Jammu on Thursday morning where the latter accepted the demand for a re-look on the contentious order.
The Foundation sources said that Omar issued immediate instructions for the revocation of the notification and ordered a total review of matter. “The notification has been put on hold till April 30, 2013 when a fresh view of the issue will be taken by the state government after discussions with the Foundation,” Shakdher said.
