SMC Commr visit brings demolitions again

Srinagar, Nov 8: At least 20 allegedly illegal structures were demolished in the City following surprise visit of City areas by Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr GN Qasba.
This is third such surprise inspection by the SMC Commissioner in the recent past that prompted the Chief Enforcement Officer Hakeem Aijaz to wake up and swing into action.
“During a surprise visit in various areas of the City, Commissioner SMC Dr GN Qasba took a serious note regarding some chronic violations /unauthorised constructions in areas like Babademb, Khanyar, Parraypora and Baghaat,” a SMC handout said.
“Accordingly the Enforcement wing of the corporation along with the men and machinery headed by its Chief Enforcement Officer Hakeem Aijaz swung into action on the directions of Commissioner and demolished around 20 illegal structures in the past three days,” the handout added.
The SMC Commissioner said surprise inspections would continue and strict action would be taken against the violators. He appealed the people to refrain from undertaking illegal constructions.
