Thousands stranded on Srinagar-Jammu highway

Ramban, Oct 11: Hundreds of commuters remained stranded on Jammu-Srinagar highway Thursday after the road was blocked for vehicular movement due to a mishap, late last night.
Official sources said a load carrier on its way from Srinagar to Jammu turned turtle near here late last night in the middle of the road after its driver lost control over the vehicle.
The load carrier and the apple boxes, it was carrying, remained on the road till late today afternoon blocking the vehicular movement on both sides of the highway.
Reports reaching here revealed that hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on the highway due to the closure of the road resulting in a massive traffic jam.
“It took some time to clear the highway but now the road has been thrown open from both sides”, SP Traffic (Highway) Surinder Kumar told Greater Kashmir.
