ID Sports to organise Tour-de-India in Srinagar
Srinagar, Oct 18: Aiming to bring Kashmir on the global cycling circuit, ID Sports is organising leg two of Godrej Eon Tour-de-India cycling race in Srinagar on December 5.
It will be first ever international level professional cycling race to be organised in the State and in it some of the top international level cyclists from the World would participate.
“Today we announce the first ever professional race to be held in Srinagar on December 5. We have been organising races in different parts of Country and it was after hectic efforts that we are successful in bringing it here. ID Sports is organizing the event in collaboration with Godrej Eon,” said CMD, ID Sports Dr. Akil Khan.
The event will witness around 400 international delegates and cyclists of teams like Team Rabobank, team Lotto and Team Astana. The route for Srinagar will include from Dal Lake to Kashmir University.
“We are excited to be in Srinagar and conduct the professional cycling race here as our endeavor is to make cycling, a national sport. Cycling through the rigorous mountain ranges of Kashmir is going to be very adventurous,” Khan said.
The event is being organised in Valley by Sr.Commander & Training Captain, Nodal Crew Mgmt System, Air India, Capt. Kapil Raina and he said that his aim is to bring Kashmir on global cycling circuit.
“Air India is happy to fly the international cyclists to the most exotic location of the country to be a part of the cycling event Tour de India. The cycling event will be a good opportunity to showcase the country's scenic beauty and the talented young cyclist professionals to the world,” he said.
“We are delighted with the fact that Godrej Eon Tour de India will witness the most enchanting location of the country. With this initiative, we aim at making cycling a part of a popular sporting culture in the country,” said Assistant Vice President- Marketing, Godrej Appliances, Godrej Eon
Among others present on the occasion included, Director Ridhi Sidhi (Adarsh Group), Zahoor Malik, Bilal Mir and others.
