4 die, 12 injured in highway accident

Jammu, Oct 20: At least four persons, including a minor, died and 12 others sustained injuries, when a vehicle they were traveling in skidded off the Srinagar-Jammu highway and rolled down into river Tawi, in Cheneni area of Udhampur district on Saturday.
Police said that the ill-fated Tavera vehicle was on way from Srinagar to Jammu when it met with the accident this morning near Domail.
Police rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals. “After hectic efforts, the rescuers retrieved all bodies and shifted injured to Chenani hospital. Five of the seriously injured persons were later shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu,” a police official said.
He identified the deceased as Aslam, 20, son of Jameel Ahmed, Nizam Din, 30, son of Faqir Din, Farman, 6, son of Nafees and Pappu, 22 all residents of UP.
The critically injured persons who were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital were identified as Parvaiz Shabir son of Shabir Ahmed of Lal Bagh Srinagar, Buri wife of Jameel, Reshma daughter of Nafees, Asif son of Jameel, Sansa daughter of Jameel.
The victims undergoing treatment at Cheneni hospital were identified as Hansar, Akram, Jalaludin all sons of Jameel, Sehansha daughter of Jameel, Jameel son of Nasir, Buri and Anam both daughters of Nafees.
