Durga Nag temple hosts Mahanavami Puja

Srinagar, Oct 22: Mahanavami was Monday celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm at ShriDurga Nag Temple near Dalgate in the City. With this, the J&K ShriDurga Nag Trust (JKSDNT), which hosted the celebrations, concluded its 9-day special Puja attended by hundreds of devotees.
“The 9-day Puja included with chanting of ShriChandi, DurgaSapthShati and other Vedic Mantras,” the hosts said adding that on this occasion a Hawan was also performed.
“The final night Puja started at 7:00 PM last night and continued till Monday afternoon,” said Manager of JKSDNT MakhanLalKoul adding that the ritual was performed by ShriBholaNath of Jammu and other Purohits.
PuranAahuti, a special prayer was offered at noon. At the end of the Puja, Prasad was distributed among the devotees, hundreds of whom thronged the Mandir, where they recited Bhajans and prayed for peace and prosperity of the state.
Giving details about the celebrations Arun Kumar one of the devotees said: “Mahanavami is a celebration of nine days, which starts from 1st Navratra.”
Kumar said during the festival the devotees don’t eat any non-vegetarian stuff.
