Local tour operators demand increase in quota of copter seats

Srinagar, Oct 23: The Valley tourism traders today demanded increase in the quota of helicopter seats for the local travel operators during the Amarnath Yatra 2013. They also demanded that local tour operators be given share in helicopter seat booking for Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji pilgrimage.
 A delegation of representatives of various tourism trade bodies projected these demands before N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today.
 The delegation led by Nazir Bakshi discussed with the Governor various issues relating to the promotion of tourism in J&K, an official statement said.
 They thanked the Governor for involving the J&K travel trade and the hotel and hospitality industry in the management of Amarnathji Yatra for boosting tourism related activities in the state, the statement said.
 Other demands projected by the delegation included establishing a “separate tourism service cadre in J&K so that the officers selected serve for adequately long periods on Tourism related assignments.” They put forth various suggestions for the promotion of tourism in J&K on long term basis.
 The Governor, the statement said, assured the delegation that their demands for increase in quota of helicopter seats and involvement of local tour operators in Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji pilgrimage helicopter travel bookings would be duly considered. The Governor assured the delegation that he will discuss all their demands with the CM.
