Qurbani services going trendy
GK CITY CORRESPONDENT
Srinagar, Oct 23: What started a few years back as a little known service for slaughter of sacrificial animals on Eid-Ul-Azha on behalf of devotees –the Qurbani services are going trendy in the summer Capital with more and more people opting for the facility offered mostly by seminaries and orphanages.
For Ghulam Muhammad (name changed), he was amongst the first to have approached Ashraful Uloom, a prominent seminary at Hyderpora to get his name registered for the Qurbani service .
“Basically our children are settled abroad whereas me and my wife would find it difficult to distribute meat, so this service has come as a blessing for us,” he said.
As a part of the service, the aspirants have simply to make payments for the slaughter while the service providers not only bring the animals, but get the meat distributed after slaughter.
“The aspirants can collect their share and even be witness to the Qurbani,” said Moulana Muhammad Yaqoob, the seminary rector adding that several related inquiries to avail the facility popped up on their phone numbers: 2436804, 2441801, 9419440493 and 9205360344.
The seminary is offering services at Rs 2500 and Rs 6000 depending on the choice of the aspirants. The option of comparatively low cost congregational Qurbani is proving a blessing for many. “I would always find Qurbani too costly but the option of Ijtimayee (congregational) Qurbani made it affordable,” said a man, a mason by profession.
J&K Yateem Trust, an orphanage, also offering the services “aspires to distribute meat among 4000 needy families.” The orphanage people said those interested to avail the facilities should contact 2310154, 2475114 and 9419003305.
