Traffic police announces helpline, assures better regulation
Avoid roadside parking, space available for 5000 vehicles: DIG

Srinagar, Oct 23: Assuring traffic regulation even better than that ahead of Eid-Ul-Fitr earlier this year, the Deputy Inspector General of Police Traffic, Shafqat Watali on Tuesday said people should feel free to the call him or SP Traffic Srinagar in case of any inconvenience in driving down the City roads for festive shopping. The DIG said the complainants can call him on 9419102410 or SP Traffic Haseeb ur Rehman on 9419166437.
The official appealed the people to cooperate in adhering to special route plans in place. Stating that roadside parking of vehicles would not be tolerated, the
DIG appealed the people to park vehicles at designated lots having a total capacity of around 5000 cabs.
Giving details the SP Traffic Srinagar, vide a handout said: “All shopkeepers/business establishments of Lal Chowk area shall park their vehicles before 10:00 AM at authorized and designated parking places.”
The other parking lots , he said are as follows:
For Residency Road: Poloview Parking, Press Colony and Sangermal Shopping Complex.
For Lal Chowk: Sheikh Bagh and Old KMD bus Adda parking.
For Hari Singh High street and Jehangir Chowk: Khalisa High School, Municipal Shopping Complex opposite Kashmir Haat, Space between Indoor and Bakshi Stadium.
Visitors to Lal Chowk shall park their vehicles at TRC Grounds, SRTC Yard, TRC Compound and SK Cricket Stadium. Besides the visitors can park their vehicles on special parking lots marked with two yellow/single yellow lines in Residency Road, Lal Chowk and HSHS.
Meanwhile the Zaina Kadal Traders Federation President Nazir Ahmed Shah appealed the DIG ,SP Traffic and the concerned SP north Tahir Salim Khan to deploy some cops in the area to regulate traffic because otherwise traffic jams were affecting the festive shopping.
