Srinagar, Oct 26: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday felicitated people on Eid-ul-Adha, wishing them well-being and prosperity.
In his Eid message, Omar said that the holy occasion imbibes in us the spirit of making sincerity and truthfulness as the way of life. This holy day also teaches us to uphold the high principals of selfless service to Almighty Allah and the humanity, he added.
Omar said, Allah Almighty counts the sincerity and purity of our intention behind performing our service for His sake and this alone earns us His munificence and forgiveness.
The Chief Minister said that sharing of joy with poor and needy is the essence of Eid. He called for extending help to poor on this occasion and making them part of Eid celebrations. The Chief Minister expressed hope that the day would be a herald of peace, progress and development in Jammu and Kashmir and the country.
Governor NN Vohra also extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and prayed for their well-being and prosperity.
In his message of felicitations, the Governor hoped fm'g9<stival would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, tranquility and the glorious pluralistic ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir has been known for centuries past. The Governor prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen Om Prakash and all ranks of the Armys Chinar Corps conveyed their felicitations to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The festival of Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated towards the end of Hajj and is a way to strengthen faith in God. It is historically associated with sacrifice and is symbolic of the willingness to follow the path outlined by the Almighty Allah. May Allah shower his choicest blessings to the people of Valley and bring goodwill, amity and prosperity in their lives, Prakash said in a statement here.
