Eid-ul-Azha celebrated in S Arabia, Gulf

Jeddah/Dubai, Oct 26: Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated on Friday in Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries with millions offering Qurbani (sacrificial slaughter).
 Saudi Arabia’s largest congregation was held in Harmain Sharifain.
 Eid-ul-Azha prayer was offered in Masjid-ul-Haram and Masji-e-Nabvi (SAW), while in Eidgahs of other towns and cities' Eid prayers were also held.
 In UAE, men and women alike imbued with the spirit of Eid that stands for charity, compassion and cultural tolerance. 
 Expatriates from more than 200 countries join the local population to celebrate the festival in UAE with an earnestness that is both unique and spiritually stimulating.
 “This year, malls are running additional promotions on weekends and are open 24 hours to promote late night and early morning shopping. The Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE) is actively promoting the campaign slogan ‘Eid in Dubai. United in Celebration’. A number of rich and elaborate programmes have also been conceived,” said an official.
 The neighbourhood emirate of Sharjah is not too behind. Al Qasba Street Carnival was packed with fun activities and performances to delight visitors of all ages. Abu Dhabi, too, is gearing up for the festivities, expecting a huge tourist rush on the holiday weekend. Hotels have been booked during Eid.
