JKNPP demands amnesty for prisoners
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Jammu: National Panthers Party today demanded grant of general amnesty to all the prisoners from Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan administered Kashmir and Pakistan held in jails across the country for years, on the occasion of Eid.
"We urge Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his personal intervention to grant general amnesty, on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, to all the prisoners from J&K, PaK and Pakistan who have been languishing in Indian jails for years," party chairman Bhim Singh said.
“There are about 250 prisoners from Pakistan and PaK, many of them in Indian jails for over 10 years without trial,” he claimed.
“The unconditional release of these jail inmates will be a token of amnesty on Eid so that they can return to their homes and reunite with their families, Singh said.
