Justice Hasnain takes oath

Srinagar, Oct 26: Justice Hasnain Masoodi was Friday appointed as judge of J&K High Court by the President of India Pranab Mukherjee. He was administered oath of office by Chief Justice J&K High Court M.M. Kumar today at the High Court premises here.
Earlier, Suresh Kumar Sharma, Registrar General of High Court read warrant of appointment issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, the notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice and authorization given by NN Vohra, Governor of J&K.
Justice Masoodi with Masters in Law from Havard University Massachusetts, USA was elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on November 13, 2009.
Born at Khrew, Pampore on January 2, 1954, Justice Masoodi had his initial schooling from his native place. He graduated from SP College Srinagar and did his LL.B from Kashmir University securing first position, besides bagging certificate of merit in 3rd Annual Convocation of the University.
He joined judicial service in 1982 and during his tenure as judicial officer held important positions in district judiciary and the High Court.
He served as Registrar General, High Court and played a key role in organizing Mega Lok Adalat for earthquake victims in 2005.
Notably, the effort by the State Legal Services Authority to determine, apportion and distribute compensation amongst the victims in a hassle-free manner was appreciated by former president of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
As Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Masoodi has dealt with and disposed of a large number of cases and rendered important judgments on Service Law, Family Law, Constitutional Law and Human rights.
