G N ZEYA
Drass, Oct 26: Situation in this frontier town returned to normal on Friday as people suspended the protests against harassment of the members of the minority community by the members of the majority community in Zanskar area.
Locals threatened to block the Srinagar-Leh highway again if authorities failed to provide protection to the members of the minority community in the area. “We have suspended the protests in wake of Eid-ul-Azha celebrations. If problems of the members of the minority community are not solved in coming days we will be left with no option other than taking to streets again,” locals said. “ We will wait for 2-days if situation in Zanskar doesn’t improve entire population of Drass would move towards Zanskar town.”
