Hundreds attend funeral of slain militants

Ganderbal, Oct 2: Hundreds of locals here Tuesday participated in the funeral of five militants killed in an encounter with forces on Monday.
Police said the militants were killed in the six-hour long gunfight they had with forces of 24 RR and Special Operations Group of police Kangan at Labpathri pastures in Wamgat forest area—55 kms from here.
The bodies of all the five militants were laid to rest in a local graveyard at Machkani village amid pro-Islam slogans, eyewitness said.
Police had identified the four killed militants as Abu Bakar, Abu Khalid, Murtaza and Abdul Gazi of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit. According to police, all of them were ‘foreigners.’
