Celebrating Mathematics
This refers to the article ‘Celebrating Mathematics’ by Dr. N A Gilkar. At least there’s someone who has taken the advantage of the National Year of Mathematics and tried to come out with some recommendations as an outcome of the series of events organised. Among the recommendations includes establishing an institute for advanced studies and research in Mathematics. Comparing the status of the mathematical education in our state with the national and international standards, such an institute should have been established earlier. The government should initiate necessary steps without wasting more time.
