Poor sanitation mars Bandipora
MUNICIPAL COMMITTEE IN SLUMBER
Bandipora: Inhabitants of the wards falling within the Bandipora Municipal limits are living a miserable life in absence of civic amenities.
The inhabitants mince no words to accuse the Muncipal Committee Bandipora of failing to ensure sanitation in its jurisdiction.
“Heaps of garbage is scattered in various wards here. Besides the drainage system is completely defunct. Despite many reminders and protests the Muncipal authorities are acting as mute spectators to lack of civic amenities here. We are living a miserable life in absence of proper sanitation facilities,” said the aggrieved residents.
They said the most affected Municipal wards include one to three and nine to 17.
Over 3,000 families of over two dozen localities here have been affected due to lack of proper drainage system. Areas like Nowpara, Nathpora, Kaloosa, Kharpora, Usman Abad, Muslimabad, Rather Mohalla, Ajar, Madar and Nusoo face problem of water logging due to absence of drainage system.
Inhabitants of Ward 14 said that during rains water enters into their houses in absence of drainage system.
“People mostly students and aged face immense problems to move to their respective destinations due to water-logging in these areas. It is ironical why the concerned authorities are not taking the issue seriously,” the aggrieved residents said.
Officials of the Muncipal Committee Bandipora assured to take up the matter with senior officers.
