Sheikh Ahmad Muhammadi passes away
Omar, Azad, Mufti, Mehbooba, Others Condole Demise

Kargil, Oct 7: Prominent Shia religious leader and president of Islamiya School here Sheikh Ahmad Mohamadi passed away last evening. He was 78.
Mohammadi son of Sheikh Hassan was born in Hardas Kargil in 1934. After his basic education, he went to Najaf Shareef in Iraq for Islamic studies for 15 years. After completing Islamic education there, he was appointed as an Arabic teacher in Boys Higher Secondary School Kargil. However he resigned from the job after two years and was appointed as Qazi and Vice-President of the Islamiya School. After five years, he was appointed as President the School—one of the prominent institutions in Kargil.
Mohammadi played a pivotal role in improvement of education scenario in Kargil and also in its development, with special focus on the weaker and backward sections of the district. He is survived by 5 sons and four girls.
As the news about his death spread, people from different walks of life made it to Kargil to participate in his funeral prayers. A procession was held in the Main Market, with all shops and business centers shut.
DEMISE WIDELY CONDOLED
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condoled the demise of Sheikh Ahmad Mohammadi. Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, Omar said that in Sheikh’s demise has deprived people of a great scholarly personality.
The Chief Minister conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family and the people of Kargil. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad also condoled the demise of Sheikh Ahmad Mohammadi.

Former Minister and senior Congress leader Haji Nisar Ali also condoled the sad demise of Sheikh Ahmad Mohammadi.
Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather condoled the demise Sheikh Ahmad Mohammadi.
Rather along with Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Qamar Ali Akhoon and Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani attended the last rites of the religious leader at Kargil. The funeral was attended by thousands of people and his followers, irrespective of caste and creed.
Rather expressed sympathies with the bereaved.
Akhoon also addressed the gathering of mourners and recounted Sheikh’s contributions in socio-economic transformation of Kargil. Nasir while expressing his sympathies with bereaved highlighted the contributions of late religious leader towards the development of Kargil.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, President Mehbooba Mufti and senior leaders of the party expressed deep shock and grief over the sad demise of noted Sheikh Ahamd Mohammadi.
In a condolence message, Mufti and Mehbooba termed Mohammadi’s demise a great loss that has created a void which is difficult to fill. “Mohammadi’s death is a severe blow to Millat- e-Islam. In Mohammadi was rolled up several unique qualities; perspicacity of history, literary merit par excellence, humane at heart, intellectual vision coupled with humility and modesty and above all keen desire to spread message of humanity in the light of Qur’anic verses and traditions of the Prophet Muhammed (SAW),” Mufti and his daughter said in the condolence message.
The other senior party leaders including vice president Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, party senior leader Muzaffar Hussain Beig, party senior leader Syed Altaf Bukahri and PDP chief spokesperson Naeem Akhter also expressed condolence to the bereaved family.
