2 arrested for fake appointments in Baramulla Agriculture Department

Baramulla, Aug 31: The Department of Agriculture at Baramulla has unearthed a fake job racket after a resident from Budgam produced a fake appointment order there a few days ago.
  According to reports, Ghulam Ahmmad Mir of Sendipora Budgam approached the officials at the Agriculture Department here, and handed over to them the ‘appointment order’. Mir said he had been appointed as helper in the department.
 The appointment letter had been “issued” by the Directorate of Agriculture Department vide order No 1710 of 2011 dated 20-9-201. It carried an office endorsement No DAK/SGR/ESTT/NG/2416-19 dated 29-9-2011. The order copy was also accompanied by the DO letter carrying “forged signature” of Minister for Agriculture.
 Sources said as the letter triggered some suspicion in view of its contents, the officials of the Agriculture Department immediately called upon the Directorate to verify the credentials of the appointment letter.
 “It subsequently became clear that no such appointment letter was issued by the Directorate and all the signatures, endorsement numbers therein were fake,” said Tariq Ahmmad Kakroo, Technical Officer at the Agriculture Department here.
 “We immediately called the police and handed over the applicant and the order copy of the appointment letter to them.”
 The Station House Officer at Baramulla Police Station Javed Ahmad Makdoomi said two persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
 They have been identified as Ghulam Muhammad Mir and Zahoor Ahmad Mir, both residents of Sendipora Badgam. Police have registered a case vide FIR No 166/2012 under section 420,468,471 of RPC Baramulla.
 “Zahoor had fraudulently made fake appointment order and was expected to receive Rs 2 lakh against the appointment. However after the case came to light, the duo were arrested,” the SHO said.
