Corrupt Panches
This refers to the article in GK Magazine, “Innocent and Ignorant” by advocate B.A Bashir. The author has rightly pointed out the state of affairs in Jammu and Kashmir. With the dawn of Panchayati Raj the menace of corruption took a new turn. Earlier officials and other government employees were corrupt but now Panchs and Sarpanchs are involved in corruption. Recently I came across a panch who was demanding bribe from educated unemployed youth for sanctioning them NREGA work in their respective villages. There won’t be any positive change unless the basic administrative setup is reformed.
