Midday meals

This refers to the immoral and objectionable practice of utilizing the Mid Day Meal (MDM) by the school teachers for their personal consumption. This food is exclusively meant for poor and under nourished school going children of the government schools for which funds are borne by the central government. But unfortunately it has been observed that the teachers despite taking hefty salaries do not relent and try to take a lion’s share out of it. Almost in every school, during lunch time, teachers pounce on the meals meant for kids. It is a pity that despite knowing that there is no greater sin than this, teachers indulge in such activities. The auditing remains limited to papers only. Tough measures should be taken to stop this unethical practice.
