School authorities ‘deny’ Class 10th, 12th students to fill forms for annual exams

Lar, Sep 11: The students of class 10th and 12th of several Government and privately run educational institutions in Lar and Kangan Tehsils of district Ganderbal have complained that the school authorities were allegedly denying them to sit in the final examinations.
According to the students studying in schools at Chhatergul, Gund and Manigam Higher Secondary and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kangan, they have been ‘denied’ by the school authorities to fill the forms for the final examination. “After the golden examination, the administration of these schools told our wards that they cannot be allowed to sit in the final examination as regular candidates and were advised to fill their examination forms as private students for the reasons better known to the school management,” the parents of students told Greater Kashmir.
"Even after securing about 35 percent marks in Golden test I was shocked when the school authorities told me that it is insufficient for sitting in the annual examination. This is sheer injustice with me and violation of norms also,” one of the students of a local school told Greater Kashmir.
“The school authorities by disallowing the students from appearing the examination are playing with their careers,” the parents said.
“I secured more that 16 percent marks in class 10th Golden test and was not allowed to participate in final examination. However, I was shocked when I came to know that my class fellow was allowed to sit in the final examination after securing very less percentage in Golden test,” a student of Government Higher secondary Gund told Greater Kashmir, adding that the student was allowed to fill the final examination form as he was the son of an influential person.
The trend is also being followed by the private institutions functioning in the district. “The management in privately run educational institutions have disallowed some of the students on the same pretext,” the aggrieved students told Greater Kashmir.
“We appeal to the school authorities to take lesson from Baramulla incident wherein a student took extreme step after he was not allowed to appear in the final examinations” a group of students told Greater Kashmir.
The parents and students have appealed to the Director School Education Kashmir to look into the matter.
