Govt doubles freedom fighters’ pension
Srinagar, Sept 13: J&K Government has issued orders for enhancement in the pension amount for the state’s freedom fighters and their dependents.
Vide order No 922-GAD of 2012, pension in case of living freedom fighters has been enhanced to Rs 3000 per month from Rs 1500 per month.
As per the order, the pension amount for widows has been increased to Rs 1800 per month against Rs 900 per month given previously.
Similarly, the new pension amount for unmarried daughters of freedom fighters has been enhanced to Rs 1200 per month against Rs 600 paid earlier.
The previous enhancement in pension was made in October 2006 when the amount was enhanced to Rs 1500 per month for living freedom fighter from Rs 750 per month, from Rs 450 to 900 per month for widows and Rs 600 from Rs 300 for unmarried daughters of the freedom fighters.
