Mirwaiz to attend Intl conference
Srinagar, Sep 16: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who on Sunday left for Delhi would be flying to Geneva to attend the 21st International Human Rights conference there.
“Mirwaiz would particularly present the case of the discovery of unmarked graves in Kashmir before the international human rights defenders. He would talk about how the government has been callous to dig deeper into it to find whether the thousands of disappeared people who were subjected to enforced disappearance might be buried in those graves. He would also present a detailed account about the gross human rights violations committed by troops, about the prisoners who are living under sub human conditions in Indian and state jails”, the Mirwaiz’s secretary said in a statement here.
Mirwaiz would appeal international community to address the issue of human rights violations and of prisoners in Kashmir, he added
He said; “Apart from that, Mirwaiz would participate in symposium, seminars on torture and human rights violations in Geneva during the scheduled programme. He would also present a documentary on torture and other issues related to it.”
