MUAS to launch ‘boycott US goods’ campaign

‘Separatists Trying To Play Safe On Outrageous Act’

ANTI-ISLAM FILM

ZAHID MAQBOOL

Srinagar, Sep 16: Hitting out at the United States for allowing screening of blasphemous film on Islam, Jammu and Kashmir Muttahida Ullemai Ahli Sunnat (MUAS), a valley based amalgam of various religious organizations Sunday declared that it will, in consultation with various Muslim countries, launch a campaign for boycott of American goods. The organization also castigated separatists for not raising their voice against the outrageous act “because of American fear.”
“This is the time to give a befitting reply to the USA. We have to boycott American goods worldwide. We will consult Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) for the enforcing boycott. A three member committee of MUAS will visit embassies of Muslim countries in New Delhi and take their governments into confidence regarding the proposal.” MUAS chief spokesperson, Qazi Yasir said at a press conference organised at the Karwanii Islami headquarters here.
The amalgam has finalized the names of Qazi Yasir and Hameedullah Haqqani for meeting with the ambassadors of the Muslim countries in New Delhi.
Lambasting the American government for deliberately pursuing policy of hurting sentiments of Muslims after especially 9/11, Yasir said; “After 9/11 American government in association with Jews are hurting the sentiments of Muslims as a policy matter.”
“The incidents of blasphemy against Muslims are not in isolation,” Yasir said and added that such provocative incidents give birth to people like Osama Bin Laden.
Yasir said that despite being disrespectable to our religion, America expects Muslims to remain mute. “And when we protest against such sacrilegious acts, we are branded as terrorists and extremists.”
Castigating the blasphemy film makers of hurting religious sentiments of Muslims in the grab of freedom of expression, Yasir said; “No law in world allows anyone to hurt the religious sentiments.”
Without naming anyone, Yasir said that ‘some Non Governmental Organizations (NGO)s in Kashmir are being funded by American government to propagate Christianity and Judaism.’
Yasir warned the NGOs to wind up their operations or be ready to get exposed.
“We cannot release their names this time, but we will expose them after this warning.”
Taking at dig at some separatist leaders for not openly protesting against the America, Yasir said; “America cannot be our friend. Let us not bank on them for solution of our problems.”
