Protests against anti-Islam film hit Pakistan
Islamabad, Sep 16: Hundreds of people rallied in Pakistani cities Sunday against a controversial film that allegedly insults Islam.
Protests were held in Kohat, Quetta, Karachi, Lahore and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Geo News reported.
In Kohat, a rally was taken out by political parties, where common people also took part.
In Kotli district of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, protesters chanted slogans against the makers of the film.
A rally was also held in Lahore, while in Karachi, the road leading to the US consulate was blocked in order to avoid any untoward incident.
Lawyers in Pakistan have called for a nationwide strike Monday to protest against the film. The Pakistan Bar Council will also observe a "black day" Monday.
President Asif Ali Zardari had Saturday expressed concern over the violence that the film has triggered in many countries. IANS
