Calls for strike on September 4
Srinagar, Sep 1: Chairman of Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani has appealed people to observe strike on September 4 to protest against the ‘religious, social and cultural aggression by New Delhi.’
“Our demand is that only 150 people should be allowed to go for Amarnath Yatra daily and that too for a limited period, non-interference in religious matters by Government, disbanding of Shrine Board and freeing Waqf Board from Government control,” Geelani said.
He also said that India is trying every tactic to strengthen its hold in Kashmir, ‘but we will not let it happen and will take people in confidence while calling for protest against these issues.’
Geelani appealed to transporters, business community, private transporters, Government employees and students to make the strike successful.
