POLICE PUT ON ALERT IN JK

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Sep 20: Police across the state has been put on high alert in view of the possibilities of protest demonstrations across Jammu and Kashmir on Friday against anti-Islamic video, which recently surfaced from USA.
Official sources said that district heads of the police have been asked to intensify street patrolling and area domination since wee hours on Friday and ensure that the protests are peaceful.
“We have reports that protests are being planned in major townships of the state on Friday and accordingly security apparatus has been put in place”, a senior police officer told Greater Kashmir.
He said that police heads at the district level have been asked to be in close contact with the local religious heads so as to ensure that protests, if any, are peaceful. “We do not want any untoward incident to take place so police have been asked to ensure maximum restrain in all the areas”, he added.
It was learnt that additional deployments have been asked to be made in the crowded places but police personnel have been asked to maintain distance from the protesters. “There should not be any kind of instigation which may create any violent situation”, the police officer said.
Sources, meanwhile, maintained that Station House Officers of all the police stations were also making efforts at their level to take into confidence the local religious heads to ensure that the protests are peaceful.
