SSS holds 3rd Roller Skating Road Race

Daim, Azra, Raullah, Ruquaya Emerge Victorious

Srinagar, Sep 23: With an aim and objective to promote roller skating in the Valley, Shaheen Sports Syndicate (SSS) Khawaja Bazaar Nowhatta on Sunday organised its 3rd roller skating road race from Nehru Park to Cheshmashahi Crossing here.
 The race was flagged off by JK Bank Executive President and Sports Board Chairman, Taffazul Hussain. As many as 70 roller skaters, both boys and girls in different age groups from all over Valley participated in the event.
 In the senior category boys Daim Shah, Saqib Khan and Salman finished, first, second and third respectively while as in senior girls, Azra Iqbal and Madeeha Talat finished first and second.
 In junior boys’ category, Raullah Iqbal, Abrar and Taurab bagged first, second and third slot respectively while as in junior girls’, Ruquaya Fayaz, Sibat Fayaz and Muskaan Talat finished first, second and third respectively.
 The prize distribution ceremony was held on the Jetty near Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in which the winners were awarded.
 Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest, Taffazul Hussain hailed SSS for its efforts in promoting the sport. “It is great to see SSS coming forward and promoting sports events like roller skating. We have got talent in abundance and only thing needed is to give them a right platform,” Taffazul said.
 Giving details about the event and SSS role, chairman SSS, S A Khanyari said, “The Syndicate is a voluntary organisation and our aim is to promote sports in the State. Apart from sports, we are also undertaking different type of social activities in the State”.
 “My advice to all the players is to maintain discipline because that is the basic quality of great players. Maintain discipline in your daily life, practice and you will achieve your goals without any hurdle,” Khanyari said.
 Besides others, noted Radio Broadcaster Tulha Jahangir, Engineer Mukhtar Ahmad and Zahoor Ahmad were also present.
 SSS General Secretary, Farooq Ahmad Guests presented the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude towards the parents for sending their children to the event.
