Numberless Tippers

It is not the first time that this newspaper has brought to light the reckless tippers moving on the roads, that too without any number plates on them. It is too glaring a thing to be missed by the concerned officials. But till now nothing seems to have been done in this regards which amounts to jeopardizing human lives. It is a common observation, and we all come across this when we drive or walk on the roads after evening hours when the tippers are allowed to ply on the city roads. These tipper drivers drive so menacingly that everyone on the roads feels mortally scared of them. Up till now it has come in news multiple times and no worthwhile steps have been taken to curb this menace. Though, to erase out traffic on the city roads, tippers have been disallowed to ply during day-hours but it doesn’t mean that their movement during the permissible hours is not regulated. There are some important  things that can be done in this regard. One, the plying hours for tippers on certain busy roads in the city can be further pushed up by an hour or so. This, because the traffic even after 9 pm is so heavy on some main roads that allowing the movement of tippers just after 9 pm defeats the very logic of disallowing their movement. Two, the tippers must be made to follow a certain speed limit. The way they move on the roads makes it the most hazardous thing on our roads. So a limit to speed is very crucial. Third, these drives must be made strictly accountable for violating the traffic regulations. A thing like not carrying the number plate on the vehicle cannot be missed unless there is connivance with the regulatory authorities. So the police personnel manning the important check points must be made accountable for anything that goes wrong in this regard. All this is important not just to regulate the traffic but to save the human lives in the first instance.
