3500 appear in ALOHA GAT–Prelims 2012

Srinagar, Sep 2: Over 3,400 schoolchildren appeared in ALOHA GAT-2012 on Sunday held at Kashmir University.
 “The question paper was released by Muhammad Rafi, Advisor to Education Department at Kashmir University,” a handout said.
 Addressing students on the occasion, Rafi stressed on “having human values in students in addition to their skills and asked them to get set for international level competitions as our society is full of potential to do so.”
 He hailed the ALOHA for having taken “such an initiative where the students, just at the age of about 10 start to acquire techniques of facing competitive exams.”
 The ALOHA people said: “Today’s initiative is a part of corporate social responsibility wherein ALOHA J&K has initiated as a competitive yearly General Ability Test (GAT) series to instill orientation among schoolchildren from 5th to 10th standard to prepare them for IAS, IFS, KAS, GMAT, AIEEE, CAT, NET, SLET, CET.IIT, IIM and other competitive exams.”
 “The scheme of examination for yearly ALOHA GAT-2012 comprises of three components which includes GAT Prelims exam. The second component is GAT Mains,” they added.
 “One half of the toppers among candidates actually appearing in the GAT prelims will be eligible for the GAT Mains. The final component is personality Test, for which 25 toppers from each class of the GAT Mains will be selected.”
 “As already announced 1st prize of Laptop computer will be given to each Champion in all the classes. The 2nd & 3rd prize of Rs 5000 and Rs 4000 respectively besides 5 consolation prizes of Rs 500 in each class will be given,” the handout from the hosts added.
 Addressing on the occasion, Managing Director Aloha J&K “thanked all the parents in making this initiative a success and appealed all the heads of private and government schools to cooperate with ALOHA in future so that this annual exercise becomes a standard inter school competition.”
 The results of GAT prelims are expected within fortnight. Meanwhile similar exams were also held at Govt Boys Degree College Khanabal Anantnag and Govt Boys Degree College Khaja Bagh Baramulla, simultaneously.
