JK has ample scope for dairy units: Mir

Islamabad (Anantnag), Sep 2: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today said that J&K has enormous scope for setting up of dairy units to achieve “the goal of self-reliance in dairy products.”
 He said the dairy sector help generate employment opportunities particularly among the youth of Gujjar & Bakerwals community.
 The Minister, according to an official statement, was addressing a delegation of Gujjar & Bakerwals at Dak Bungalow, Islamabad (Anantnag) this morning.
 Ex. MLA GM Bhawan, Nazir Dailgami, Farooq Jan, Muzaffar Reshi were present on the occasion.
 Mir said the government has launched different schemes for setting up of dairy units for which beneficiaries are being provided incentives to help them for their progress.
 Asking the Gujjar & Bakerwals community to come forward to avail the benefits of the welfare schemes, the Minister asked them to set up dairy units on modern lines in their respective areas to help ameliorating their socio-economic conditions.
 The minister said the department of animal husbandry would facilitate them by providing technical and financial assistance.
 Mir said the government is committed to uplift the socio-economic standard of backward communities of the state “for which various welfare schemes have been launched.”
 He asked the people to come forward and take the benefit of these ambitious schemes. He said on the developmental front various flagship programmes have also been launched in every nook and corner of the state particularly in far off areas to facilitate the people.
 Referring the other demand of the community, the Minister assured that their genuine demands would be taken to the concerned departments for their early redressal.
