Parents concerned over falling of debris on school building

Road construction

Mamar (Kangan), Sep 2: The parents of students studying in a government run educational institution at Mamar have complained that the lives of their wards are at constant risk due to the falling of debris on the school building from the nearby under construction road.
According to the residents, the debris of under construction Kachpathri- Mamar road being constructed under the centrally sponsored scheme, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is falling on the Government Middle School building Mamar situated at the base of hill.
“Recently our wards had a narrow escape when stones and debris fell on the school building during the working hours, forcing children and teaching staff to evacuate the building and run for life,” the residents told Greater Kashmir, adding the structure suffered extensive damage and fortunately no one was wounded.
“We are not averse to the road construction, but we are seeking safety of our wards,” they further added.
The residents sought the intervention of the District Development Commissioner in this regard.
