Chandigarh knocks out J&K
58TH NATIONAL SCHOOL GAMES U-17 FOOTBALL
Srinagar, Sep 5: Hosts Jammu and Kashmir was knocked out of the ongoing 58th National School Games for Under-17 football event boys after facing their second consecutive defeat in the event at Bakshi Stadium here on Wednesday.
In its second match, J&K was against Chandigarh. They lost the match by 2-1. For host side, lone goal was scored by Sanib Muhammad. With this loss, JK has been knocked out of the event as they had earlier on inaugural day lost their opening encounter against Nagaland.
Meanwhile, in a one sided contest, Tamil Nadu comprehensively defeated CBSE by 7-0. Dane and Puvi of Taml Nadu scored two goals each.
In the second match played at the same venue, Uttrakhand defeated Chattisgarh by 3-0.
At Polo Ground, Manipur and Goa tried hard to register win over each other, but couldn’t as the match resulted in a draw with a score of 2-2. In the second match played at Polo Ground, UP defeated MP with a solitary goal of Arvind Yadav.
At Kashmir University matches were played at two grounds. At Ground (A) two matches were played.
In the first match, Punjab thrashed Kerala by 4-1 while as in second match, Karnataka held Assam to a draw. Ashok Drama and Magaish were the scorers for Assam and Karnataka respectively.
At Kashmir University Ground (B), Andhra Pradesh lost the match against the state team of Tripura. The score was 4-1. Mangat Kishor and Ranjit scored one goal each for the winning team.
Scheduled two league matches were played at Islamia College Ground. In the first, Delhi trounced IPSC by four goals. In the second match, Orrisa outplayed Vidya Bharti by 7-0.
