Hails Dr Zakir Naik

‘Islam Misunderstood By Some’

Srinagar, Sep 6: Bringing an end to over two years of speculation on his TV interaction with world famed Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik, actor Shahrukh Khan termed the Peace TV founder a “very intelligent, very smart and a very knowledgeable man” even has he said that Islam was being misunderstood by a section of people  across the world.
Replying a question posed by Greater Kashmir on his interaction with Dr Zakir Naik at a show hosted by NDTV in 2010, SRK recapped that was a memorable meeting. “It was great interaction. I can tell you that,” SRK said.
King Khan’s interaction with the scholar had ended up in an unending debate with many including Dr Zakir Naik himself accusing the host satellite channel of having “badly edited his side of the story.”
Since then though Dr Zakir Naik had been clarifying his position on Peace TV, there was no response from the SRK nor was he ever asked to comment on the issue.
Shahrukh, who did not miss to start his media interaction with Islamic greetings Assalam-u-Alaikum added some typical verses like MashaAllah, InshaAllah and Alhamdulliilah in his press conference and clarified that he was proud to be Muslim.
To a question, SRK said, Islam and Muslims were being misunderstood by a section of people world over adding that this was the reason he came up with movie “My Name is Khan.”
“I am Islamic. I am Muslim. Its’ my religion too and I hundred percent felt that section of people (Muslims) that you know is misunderstood and the thing I know is that world’s greatest problems are always arisen when people misunderstand,” SRK said.
“The main reason to this misunderstanding, as I already said, is lack of knowledge on ideological or geographical issues make it sound wrong because we speak unilateral,” he maintained.
In an appeal to the Muslim community, Khan said: “I think the main thing is that all of us belonging to this religion need to explain our religion to the people.”
“It’s a big issue and all us should take of take it with patience and intelligence and try to explain our point of view,” Khan maintained.
He however said that “I don’t think we should get into situations where we start thinking negative of life.”
