‘Give info about militants, get Rs 3 lakhs’

SHOWKAT DAR

Pulwama, Sep 8: Army has announced a reward of Rs 3 lakhs for providing information about militants in this south Kashmir district.
The Army has pasted posters at Tahab, Lassipora, Nawpora, Panjren, Achan, Niloora Litter, Shahoora and other villages asking people to provide information and take the reward. Having photographs of some active militants, the poster reads: “These militants are active in your area from sometime and are a threat to peace. If anyone will give any information about them he will be given Rs 3 lakh as reward. On any information please contact on following telephone numbers……”
Posters have been pasted on the shutters and walls of shops. “Some army men pasted the poster on the wall of my shop,” a shopkeeper said.
When contacted, the Commander 12 sector RR, Brigadier Rajeev Nanda, refused to say anything about the matter. “Please come to my office then we can talk about this,” he said.
However, an Army officer posted in the area accepted that the posters were pasted by the Army.  “Yes the posters have been pasted by Army, we have announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh.”
When contacted, Army’s Srinagar-based spokesman Lt Col J S Brar said: “I have no information about the posters.”
