Government Mulls Revision Of Recruitment Rules

Jammu, Mar 30: Minister for Forest and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmad today said Government is considering to absorb forestry graduates on the pattern of Rehbar-i-Zirat and maintained that the matter has been referred to planning and development department for concurrence.
Replying to a question by Sofi Abdul Gaffar in Legislative Assembly here today, Altaf said 279 posts of foresters and Forest Protection Force (FPF) inspectors have been advertised by the SSRB with minimum prescribed qualification as 10 plus two.
He said the necessary criteria for selection of the said categories has been fixed by the SSRB. The Minister said that the process of selection has been challenged through a number of writ petitions and High Court has stayed the process of selection of foresters and forest protection force inspectors.
He also said that revision of recruitment rules of Forest Department (FD) is under active consideration.
ESTABLISHMENT OF WDA UNDER CONSIDERATION
Minister for Forest and Environment Mian Altaf today said that Government of India has sanctioned Rs 30 crore under 13th Finance Commission for conservation of Wullar lake.
This was stated by the Minister in reply to a question by PDP legislator Nizam-ud-Din Bhat in Legislative Assembly here today. He said proposal for establishment of Wullar Development Authority (WDA) is under active consideration of the Government for utilization of funds.
He said till framing of the WDA, the works are being executed through OSD (Wullar Lake) of Forest Department as per the project formulated for the development of the water body.
He maintained that no State funds for development and preservation of Wullar Lake have been sanctioned by the Government.
