Sheikh Musa Shareifi passes away

Kargil, Dec 11: Prominent Shia leader of Jammu and Kashmir and Imam-e-Juma- Wal –Jamiat, Kargil, Sheikh Musa Shariefi passed away on Wednesday at his residence, Chanchik,  here after  brief spell of illness. He was 71.
The Nimaz-i- Janaza of the deceased is likely to be offered on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in the premises of Islamia School, Kargil. Funeral ceremony will be held at his ancestral village Chutumail Soth here.
After studying the Islamic Studies for 24 years and working as a teacher at Najaf Ashraf, Sheikh Musa returned here and rendered his service to the people.
Known for his religious deliberations as Khateeb and Imam , Sheikh Mussa’s demise is being mourned in every nook and corner of Ladakh. Anjuma Jamiyat-ul -Ullama Asna Ashriya Kargil (ISK) while paying rich tributes for the deceased described him a great religious scholar.
Meanwhile, some of the local institutions and organizations have called for a complete shutdown in Kargil during the funeral ceremony of Imam Jamia.
Omar condoles Sheikh Musa’s demise
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed grief over the demise of a religious scholar Sheikh Musa Shariefi of Kargil.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said the demise of a very distinguished and respected religious leader Sheikh Moosa Shariefi is a great loss to the society. He conveyed his solidarity with the bereaved family and devotees of late religious leader.
