Corporation employees to get 20 pc DA

Jammu, Feb 1: The employees of J&K State Road Transport Corporation will be provided 20 per cent Dearness Allowance prospectively. This decision was taken at the 70th Board of Directors’ Meeting of the Corporation here today.
Minister for Transport, CAPD, Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan was in the chair. Minister of State for Transport Dr Manohar Lal Sharma was also present in the meeting.
The instalment of DA was released prospectively keeping in view the encouraging revenue generation by the Corporation during last fiscal, an official statement said.
Reviewing the performance of the Corporation, it was informed that the Corporation has earned revenue of Rs. 83.43 crore during 2011-12 against Rs. 55. 26 crore in 2010-11 registering growth of 51 per cent.
The meeting also adopted Group gratuity Scheme for the employees of the Corporation through LIC of India, compassionate appointment in favour of dependents of J&K SRTC employees who died in harness on case to case basis and execution of works for providing better amenities to the convenience of both general public, tourists and its employees at various locations in the State.
The Board appreciated the liquidation of accumulated liabilities of the corporation by Rs 33.45 crore during 2011-12 and 2012-13.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramzan asked the employees of the corporation to work hard for making it a viable corporation. The Minister asked them to ensure safe and efficient bus services to commuters and tourists besides timely transportation of food grains to every nook corner of the state.
