SSA teachers without salary for months
Srinagar, Feb 2: Scores of teachers appointed under Centrally sponsored scheme Sarva Siksha Abhiyan on Saturday staged protest against non- release of their monthly salaries.
The protesting teachers told Greater Kashmir that thousands of teachers are without salaries for last four months due to failure of concerned authorities in submitting the Utilization Certificates (UC) regarding SSA on time.
They said that Centre has withheld release of second installment to Jammu and Kashmir Government owing to the failure of SSA directorate to submit expenditure certificate
According to them, 30000 teachers in all 22 districts are without salaries. “We are running from pillar to post for the past four months to get our salaries released, but of no avail,” they said.
When contacted, Comissioner Secretary, School Education Department Farooq Ahmad said that they have released Rs 63 crore for payment of salaries to the teachers.
“We will shortly release Rs 40 crore to meet pending salaries,” he said.
