Div Com reviews ongoing drainage works
Srinagar, Feb 5: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon on Tuesday reviewed ongoing sewerage and drainage works in the summer capital and directed the concerned agencies to expedite work on these projects.
Divisional Commissioner chaired a joint meeting of officers of National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) and Urban Environment Engineering Department (UEED) to review status of the works under execution in the City.
The meeting was informed that NBCC has completed 90 percent of the work under trunk sewerage in the City while 97 percent lateral connectivity has been completed.
Officials said Rs. 132 crore were being utilized on execution of these works out of which Rs. 70 crores have been expended till date.
Regarding implementation of Jawahar Lal Nehru Renewable Urban Mission, it was informed that sewerage work has been completed on 132 kms, out of which 60 kms have been tested by the UEED.
It was further informed that work is apace at Noor Bagh Sewerage Treatment Plant which shall be completed by March 2014 and shall benefit 4.5 lakh souls of Soura, Buchpora, Lal Bazar, Down Town, Mala Bagh, Rampora, Hawal and Nallamar road.
Dr. Samoon directed the officers to expedite the ongoing sewerage and drainage works in Srinagar for convenience of people. He also enjoined upon them to work with coordination and devotion to achieve the tangible targets within stipulated time.
