Mehjoor gets 3rd time 5 wickets haul in 5 matches

Srinagar, Feb 7: Valley’s rookie pacer Mehjoor Ali Sofi seems to be on a roll claiming yet another five-wicket haul in the Kolkata League.
Mehjoor took 5 wickets in 25 overs including 6 maidens on Wednesday, before scoring 42 runs for 9th wicket partnership of 52 runs, helping his team Calcutta Cricket & Football Club (CCFC) chase the International Sporting Club’s 209 runs on the last day of the two-day match played in Kolkata.
With 23 wickets in his kitty, Mehjoor is the leading wicket taker in the Kolkata League, sponsored by the Bengal Cricket Association. The performance is likely to earn him a place in the Bangkok International Sixes Tournament in Thailand by the end of this month where teams from various countries are expected to participate.
Mehjoor has already earned a membership of CCFC, one of the oldest clubs in India. Mehjoor Ali Sofi who hails from Malla Bagh area of Srinagar city has gained his experience at various levels from the age of 16 and is said to be one of the fastest bowlers from J&K.

He honed his fast bowling skills in BCCI’s NCA Academy for fast bowlers, Mohali and also in MRF Pace Foundation, Chennai after a two-month stint at Imtiyaz Ahmad Cricket Academy, Bangalore.
From iconic Shane Warne to speed merchant Shaun Tait, Mehjoor also learned tips of the trade from the likes of Graeme Smith, Morne Morkel during his stint with the Royals developmental squad.
