New Year resolutions for Srinagar
‘WILL MAKE CITY GREEN, CLEAN’
Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Dr GN Qasba has made a New Year resolution to make Srinagar City green and clean.
Enumerating his New Year resolution, Dr Qasba said SMC will undertake mechanization of sanitation in Srinagar, efficient segregation and scientific disposal of bio-degradable and non Bio-degradable garbage.
“We will ensure polythene free Srinagar, strict adherence of rules and regulations of Master Plan for constructions within SMC limits, promotion of bio-degradable packaging material," Dr Qasba said.
He said SMC will activate Citizen Facilitation Centers for all Municipal related service issues in City, ensure efficiency in transparency, accountability and redressal of public grievances, strengthen traffic management and pedestrian movement.
“It is my dream and New Year resolution to make Srinagar green and clean,” Dr Qasba said.
‘TRAFFIC SYSTEM WILL BE STREAMLINED’
Superintendent of Police Traffic City, Haseeb-ur-Rehman, has made a New Year resolution to streamline traffic system in the Srinagar City.
“I will work harder to streamline traffic scenario in Srinagar city in 2013. At the same time, I also expect self discipline among road users and respect for traffic rules. Best wishes to all the people in Srinagar city for 2013,” he said.
‘WILL TAKE MEASURES TO MAKE SRINAGAR DISASTER FREE’
Coordinator, Disaster Management Kashmir Aamir Ali has resolved to make Srinagar disaster free in New Year.
“As we step into 2013, let us all endeavour to make Srinagar disaster free. Despite our awareness about our proneness to disasters, we are not taking effective measures to minimize our vulnerability. Most natural disasters can be prevented if we reduce our vulnerabilities,” Aamir said.
He said rapid increase of unplanned urbanization needs to be checked as it contributes to increased damages in disasters. “On our part, we need to identify gaps and devise methods to enhance our capability, to ensure optimal utilization and management of disasters,” he said.
He said professional agencies including fire services, SDRF, State Police, Paramilitary forces, Army, Air force, Doctors, Engineers and Civil Defence Volunteers help in rescue in event of any disaster.
“We need to enhance their capabilities, as well. Community disaster preparedness and school safety is our top most priority to inculcate an ethos of prevention and preparedness. We need to take safety measures seriously. Best wishes for a disaster-free and safe year,” he added.
‘WILL MAKE SRINAGAR MODEL CITY’
Srinagar: Vice-Chairperson Srinagar Development Authority Khawaja Farooq Renzu resolved to make Srinagar a model city.
“Srinagar has history of nearly 700 years. I make a New Year resolution to make Srinagar a model city which will be known as Greater Srinagar,” Renzu said.
‘PEACE IN CITY MY PRIORITY’
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar Syed Aashiq Hussain Bukhari said maintaining peace in Srinagar City is his New Year resolution.
“I will leave no stone unturned to maintain peace in Srinagar in 2013 and coming years,” the SSP said.
