Traffic Week to commence today

Srinagar, Dec 31: The Traffic Department is organizing Traffic Week from January 1 to spread awareness about traffic rules among people in the City.
The Traffic Week will be inaugurated by Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo during a function at Banquet Hall on Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic (City), Haseeb-ur-Rehman, said objective of the Traffic Week is to make people aware about the traffic rules and regulations.
“The drive would specially focus on youth to adopt safe driving as regular feature. The programme will continue throughout the week in which we will organize different events about traffic awareness including debates, quiz competitions, medical camps and skit to disseminate the message of safe driving,” the SP said.
The SP said a bike rally will be held on January 3. “The rally will commence from Hyderpora flyover, pass through city roads and culminate outside Traffic office here,” he said.
He said a road march of students of various schools will be part of the Traffic Week.
