‘PDD realises Rs 613 cr in Jammu’

Jammu, Jan 9: Power Development Department, Jammu has realized revenue of Rs 613.73 crore from the consumers of Jammu Division ended December 2012, an official statement said.It was given out at a meeting of PDD officers here yesterday.
The meeting was convened to review the status of power tariff collection and physical and financial achievement on the ongoing power infrastructure work taken up under the flagship programmes and state plan in the region.
Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmed Khan chaired the meeting.
Principal Secretary, Arun Kumar Mehta, Secretary Technical, Asgar Ali Majaz, Power Development Commissioner, M A Salroo, Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers besides other senior officers of various wings of the department attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that 32187 new connections have been registered in the region during last eight months of current fiscal taking the total number to 641278, while 1340.830 MW electricity is being provided to the consumers of the division this year against last year’s load of 1064.037 MW, the statement said. It was also informed that the department checking squads have made 29131 inspections across the division to check illegal connection and power pilferage and imposed a fine of Rs. 711.807 lakh against which Rs. 506.412 lakh have been recovered from the violators till November.
The meeting was also informed that electricity charges of Rs. 102 crore were recovered from various government departments till October 2012. It was further disclosed that 45965 applications were received for revision of load against which 110104.196 KW load was added in the division.
The meeting was also told that an amount of Rs. 1907.72 lakh is needed for complete metering in the 11 towns of Jammu division and till date 163454 electric meters have been installed under R-APDRP. The meeting also took detailed review of under execution works being carried out under RGGVY, R-APDRP and state plan in the division.
