'PDP allegations a bundle of lies’
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Jan 9: Reacting sharply to a statement by PDP spokesperson Nayeem Akhter in which he had alleged that bills worth crores of rupees were piling up at the treasuries, the Finance Department today describing the “allegations” as totally baseless.
A spokesman of the Finance Department said the government has been “equitable in releasing the payments of contractors and suppliers as also in making payment of Salaries and Pensions.”
“As of today, all the liabilities up to December 31, 2012 stood cleared in respect of Contractors/ Suppliers and now there is a liability of Rs 32.35 crore on account of Contractor/ Firms, Rs. 4.57 crore in respect of Suppliers’ bills and nil in respect of Self Help Groups, outstanding in the treasuries.”
“During the past four months, Rs. 598.34 crore has been paid to Contractors/ Firms, Rs.139.54 crore to the Suppliers and Rs 2.22 crore to Self Help Groups,” the spokesman said in a statement, adding that the liability of Rs 1000 crore in respect of the contractors of the Kashmir valley alone, as alleged in the statement of Nayeem Akhter is totally “baseless, malicious and without an iota of truth, as the aggregate outstanding liability on account of Contractors/ Suppliers bills, as on date, is only of the order of Rs 36.92 crore, across the State.”
The spokesman said it was most unfortunate on the part of PDP that without any ground “wild allegations” are levelled which shows the “political and moral bankruptcy this party.”
The spokesman said that there is no pick and choose being adopted by the government in the matter of payments.
Liabilities on account of contractors/suppliers payments are also like any other payment, which are cleared uniformly up to a particular date in respect of all the treasuries of the State, he said.
