Protest over power crisis spills over to Shaher-e-Khaas

Srinagar, Jan 9: Protests against unscheduled power-cuts spilled over to Shaher-e-Khaas on Wednesday with people of various localities taking to streets.
Hundreds of people of Khyam and its adjoining areas staged massive protest against the erratic power supply. They blocked main road at Khayam for hours together.
The protestors raised slogans against PDD and Government. “PDD has plunged many area of Old City into darkness by resorting to unscheduled power cuts,” they said.
“Erratic power supply has affected normal life and the students who are appearing in ongoing examinations face problems in absence of power,” they added.
The traders and inhabitants of various localities in Shaher-e-Khas, have threatened to stage protests if PDD fails to improve power supply.
“We are facing many problems due to long power cuts during daytime and evenings. This has affected our business,” said president Jamia Market Traders Federation, President, Javed Ahmed Zargar.
Pertinently, several areas of Srinagar including Bemina Tuesday witnessed strong protests against acute shortage of power.
