GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Jan 10: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three more accused involved in the honor killing of a girl at Malagund, Lolab in frontier district of Kupwara.
Police said the accused trio Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Muhammad Siddiq Sheikh, Fayaz Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah both residents of Malagund and Abdul Gani Pir son of Muhammad Sadiq Pir of Shortmuqa were absconding for nearly a year. The trio is allegedly involved in the honor killing of a girl at Malagund-Sever, Lolab. The tragic incident took place on 16 February last year.
Police filed the chargesheet of the case FIR No. 07/12 under sections 302, 342, 120-B of RPC before the Principal Sessions Judge Kupwara against eight accused on 23 April 2012, pending arrival of report from FSL Srinagar. However, when the FSL reports made it clear that it was a case of poisoning, the trial court ordered further investigations and accordingly a special investigation team (SIT) headed by DSP headquarters Kupwara Sajad Khaliq Bhat was constituted on 28-08-2012.
SIT investigation revealed that the victim had secretly solemnized Nikkah with one Wiqar Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Nabi Khan of Cheerpora, Lolab on 15-10-2011. The duo, as per investigations, was forced to solemnize the marriage surreptitiously after the girl’s parents rejected the proposal by Wiqar’s family.
However, on learning about their marriage, Wiqar’s relatives handed back the girl to her parents on February 12, 2012.
Girl’s father, according to the investigation, arranged emergency and ‘forcible’ Nikkah Khawani of his daughter on February 14, 2012 with Naseer Ahmad Shah of Malagund-Sever. The victim was forcibly sent with her new husband and was accompanied by Abdul Hamid Shah of Shortmuqam, Lolab, Nazir Ahmad Pir of Madmadev Kalaroos and the brother of the victim.
When Wiqar came to know about the forcible Nikkah of the victim, he along with his kin approached Sogam court for obtaining warrant under section 100 CrPC for recovery of the victim but couldn’t succeed and on February 16, 2012 Wiqar and his kin approached police post Khurhama for relief.
When Abdul Hamid and Nazir Ahmad came to know about other side having approached the court to seek warrant under section 100 Cr PC for recovery of the victim the accused hatched a criminal conspiracy in connivance with father of the victim in the house of Naseer Ahmad Shah at Malagund Lolab. They arranged a Diazepam injection Nivon (poison) and thereafter the victim was given Diazepam in the house of her husband as a result she became unconscious followed by Nivon as a result of which she victim died.
On the same day police party of Police Post Khurhama went to the house of Naseer Ahmad Shah at Malagund Sever Lolab. By the time police party reached the spot the girl had already died.
